An original watercolor traces a set of railroad tracks as they curve through one of Cleveland’s industrial corridors, leading toward the layered structures of a working steel mill. Elevated bridges, conveyors, and smokestacks rise above the scene, creating a network of lines and forms that define the space. I was drawn to the way the tracks pulled the eye forward through the composition, with the industrial structures unfolding in the distance. The scene reflects the scale and complexity of Cleveland’s industrial landscape, shaped by observation and an appreciation for the patterns and presence of these working environments.
