On a visit to Agnone, Italy—where my Italian family was from—I had the chance to see the home where my grandfather was born in the mid-1800s. It was a quiet, meaningful moment, and one I wanted to preserve through painting. This piece holds personal history, but also the feeling of rootedness that many old towns carry.
